USA Total power Consumption 1999 is:
96.60 quadrillion BTU or 966,000,000,000,000 BTU

The population of the united states is 306 million
A large industrial user using that many kW's will not be paying more than 0.03$ per kW if even that much.
Converting BTU's to kW's. 3,412 BTU's is equal to one kW
So one trillion BTU divided by 3,412 equals 293,083,235 kW
At .03$ a kw the cost of 1 trillion BTU is $8,792,497
To find out the total cost of the United States power consumption divide
96.60 quadrillion by 1 trillion then multiply the answer by $8,792,497.
The answer to the first part comes to 96,600 trillions in 96.60
quadrillion
The answer to the second part 96,600 multiplied by $8,792,492 equals
849,354,727,200
Which is $849.35 billion a year spent on US electricity.
Divide that by the US population which is 306 million to see the amount of
the cost per person.
That is 849,354,727,200 divided by 304,000,000 equals $2793 per person per
year.
This figure is obviously a rough estimate of what a country the size of the US spends on power each year with infrastructure and everything included.
Iran has a population of 70 million people. So multiply 70 million times $2793. That number equals 195.5 billion per year.
The cost of supplying power to the whole country of Iran is 195,510,000,000 or 195.5 billion per year.
If we spend the bulk of it, say 100 billion and let the rest of the countries in the U.N. spend the rest and get Iran to pay a little as well I bet its still cheaper than the alternative which is war like the one in Iraq. So lets compare the cost of the power to the war in Iraq to find out.
The cost of going to war in Iraq over possible nuclear weapons was 606,495,000,000 and climbing. This figure 606.5 billion represents only the United States cost since 2003. Divide that by 6 for the amount of time spent their comes to 101,082,500,000 or 101 billion per year. Seems like its cheaper to pay the 100 billion by about a billion dollars.
So instead of trying to determine the intentions of Iran's nuclear program or considering war to thwart their nuclear program wouldn't it just be easier to say to them, we will supply you with the power you need. Now you no longer have the need for any reason to be enriching uranium.
If they still continue with their uranium enrichment their intentions from then on have become crystal clear and our intentions from then on should be even clearer.

NASA some say is a waste of tax payer money

I am a big fan of NASA and unlike some others I believe the space program is great for this country and for science in general. I know it costs a lot but I think the majority of people will agree with me its totally worth it. I do however notice how often I here people complain about tax money being wrongly spent or wasted, especially in 2009. I however would not place the United States space program in the waste category. I guess there are always those who will have different opinions and goals than the rest of us. Please feel free to share any personal comments you have about the space program.

I worked my whole life. My job wasn't always easy but I did it FOR 40 YEARS. Why? Because it was honest WORK! It wasn't sitting a fancy office all day brainstorming new ways to screw people.I was busting my ass earning an honest living. I saved and sacrificed as much as I could possibly bear over those 40 years. Sacrificing, my wants as well as my family wants so someday myself and my family could have more than I started with. I trusted you and you F'd me and not just me a lot of other people. I no longer have the future I worked for but at 70 years old my future looks pretty grim. I hope you enjoyed yourself with my that came from me breaking my back every day.

Here is the funny thing about life. You never really know where it is your going.You know where you wanna go.You might do things and make decisions that you think will get you there. But it isn't entirely up to you is it? Somewhere along the line you have to rely on somebody else to do what you want them to do to make what you want to happen, happen and this is when things get all F'd up.
Nobody makes it easy on you do they. This rough road causes some to use the excuse "hell if people would just give me the money I wouldn't have to kill them. Killing people isn't easy its hard dam work but it is the only way your gonna get some people to stop holding out. Ya ya you can build things and gather things that people will trade their valuables or their money for but if you want their last dollar you gotta take it."
There not serious about the killing or the taking of course but seriously What is wrong with the world? Their opinion "lets face it men, there is not enough around to go around so you better get yours before I get mine. Once I get mine all the gotten can be forgotten cause its all gone. I will be consuming what I have gotten as fast as I can. There will be nothing left therefore if you want yours better hurry. As soon as I'm done talking I'm starting. Do you follow me? Are you picking up what I'm putting down? I hope so because for those of you who missed the boat there will be no make ups for this test.
